On a trip to Cairo, Egypt, we stayed in the apartment of a colleague of my husbands. From in-town Cairo, we made short and long trips to those unique sites in Egypt. I kept my eyes open for local markets to see what was offered and buy a special 'souvenier' or two. The metal box is one 'souvenier'.
 
 This box for ‘treasurers’ has top and sides decorated with ‘folk art’ incised and raised designs of the Pyramids and environs. The interior is probably cedar wood. Very nicely crafted with a 'native' touch of innocence. 
The box measures 5.5” by 3.5” by 1” high.
