This wood figure was purchased at a market in Cairo in 1960.  The piece is carved wood with pigmented clay wash and black pigment details.  Age not known, yet appears very old and look like similar figures seen in my search, although this figure is more complete with body parts and finishes.  The sculpture appealed to me for its apparent age – very, very old.  I did not ask the vendor to provide an estimated date. Through the centuries copies, fakes have been produced and sold to tourists, like me. However, this figure looks like museum quality to me, maybe a local museum, or in a collector's display.
